Scottish Rum

Rum is a spirit more typically associated with white sandy beaches or turquoise Caribbean seas. Now, the tropical spirit is making its presence felt on shores closer to home. Here’s our pick of five fab Scottish rums leading Scotland’s rum revolution…

Wester Spirit

Devil’s Point

Devil’s Point produces Caribbean style rum with a Scottish twist. Based in Aberdeenshire, they use American oak and ex-oloroso sherry casks to give their rum a rich flavour and aroma. Their Coffee Rum Liqueur combines white rum, local cold brew coffee and sugar – ideal for shaking up your Espresso Martini.

Matugga Rum

Matugga Rum is based in Livingston and boasts an award-winning collection of Golden and Spiced Rums. They use the finest ingredients from the easterly region of Africa to give their rums a distinctive African twist and can be enjoyed neat, on ice or as the base to a delicious cocktail.

SeaWolf is Scotland’s first White Rum brand. The brainchild of the team behind celebrated Edinburgh bars Bramble, The Last Word and Lucky Liquor Co., SeaWolf has a stunning bottle design which was inspired by the killer whales often spotted along Scotland’s coastlines.

Banditti Club

Inspired by ‘The Banditti Club’, a company of rogues who met in Glasgow’s pubs in the late 18th and 19th centuries, Banditti Club is created from rum that is distilled from freshly pressed sugar cane juice on the Island of Madeira before it is spiced and matured in Glasgow.

A 50cl bottle can be purchased from their website for £25.

Always drink responsibly.
