North to South – Myrtle Simpson

For our North to South series, we travelled from the far north of Lewis to the Borders to hear the stories of 8 Scottish women.

Myrtle Simpson is a skier and climber who was awarded a Polar Medal in 2017. Her expeditions over the years took her to New Zealand, Peru and the High Arctic and she became the first woman to ski across Greenland on an unsupported expedition. Here, she tells us about her adventures, taking her children to the Arctic and how the climbing community has changed for women today.
