Glasgow’s biggest cocktail event – the Glasgow Cocktail Weekend – is returning for a second run from Thursday 26th September – Sunday 29th September, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Shaking things up for 2019, the four-day event will once again bring together Glasgow’s finest venues, delicious drinks, parties and even bigger events to celebrate mixology.
New for 2019, guests can discover the Cocktail Kingdom with pop-up cocktail bars, immersive activations, street food from Platform, a host of DJs and masterclasses, all set in the iconic background of Argyle Street Arches, as well as unlimited discounted cocktails in over 30+ bars across Glasgow including So.La and Rioja.
Speaking of Glasgow Cocktail Weekend, Louise Rusk, co-founder of Rusk & Rusk lifestyle group said: “We are really excited to have our venues participating again for Glasgow Cocktail Weekend. It was fantastic last year, and we’re already planning event ideas and cocktail surprises for guests to the festival, which will all be revealed soon.”
Organised by award-winning Scottish digital marketing consultancy Moir Media, the festival aims to showcase Glasgow’s best bars and bartenders to create an incredible cocktail event that channels the energy and charisma of the city.
Organiser, Nicola Moir said: “The planning is well and underway for our 2019 event. After last year’s success, we’re making this year’s cocktail takeover even bigger – with more bars and more ways to enjoy with your friends. We want our guests to the festival to enjoy hidden gems to cocktail havens across the city.
“This event is a celebration of Glasgow’s cocktail culture, and we can’t wait to showcase that with our amazing new Cocktail Kingdom at the Argyle Street Arches and imaginative drinks in all your favourite bars.”
To mark the return of the cocktail weekend, a special drink was created which pays tribute to Scottish singer, Lewis Capaldi.
Titled Bathgate to LA, the Capaldi-inspired cocktail has been exclusively created by mixologists from So.La on Mitchell Street in the city centre, and is a sweet fusion of freshly muddled Japanese ginger, craft Roku gin, and a delicious lychee liqueur.
The cocktail is available from So.La at a special price of £5 from now until Mother’s Day (Sunday 31st March), and is free if you’re called Lewis Capaldi.
This promotion was unexpectedly taken up by the singer at the weekend, when he headed to the bar to claim his free cocktail. When asked how he liked the drink, Capaldi said: “It hits you in the face”.
