The 2019 Oscars Winners

After a very successful awards season, Olivia Colman was announced as the winner of the Best Actress role for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite. An emotional Olivia took to the stage to lift the award and gave a heartfelt speech that had the audience laughing and cheering – particularly when she blew a raspberry after being asked to wrap up her speech.

Rami Malek also added to his award collection, lifting the Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. After taking the award, the star took an unexpected tumble off the stage and had to be treated by medics. However, it seems the actor was uninjured and went on to celebrate his win with girlfriend and co-star Lucy Boynton.

Green Book took three awards on the night including the highly coveted Best Picture and Original Screenplay while Mahershala Ali was awarded Best Supporting Actor. The Best Supporting Actress Award went to Regina King for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk.

Black Panther was also took three Oscars including Costume Design, Production Design and Original Score. However, the Best Original Song title was given to Shallow from A Star Is Born and the movie’s stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper gave an impassioned performance of the song.

Alfonso Cuarón won the Best Director prize for his work on Netflix movie Roma, which also took the Best Foreign Language Film and Cinematography Oscar.

The Wardrobe

The 2019 Oscars red carpet was awash with stars in all their finery for one of the most glamorous nights of the year. From JLo’s mirror finish Tom Ford gown to Glenn Close’s Carolina Herrera ensemble which was embroidered in beads and reportedly weighed a whopping 20kg – the stars pulled out all the stops this year…
