Nicola Fullerton, a Scottish teen battling cancer met her hero, singer Ed Sheeran before his performance on Easter Monday at the SSE Hydro.
The 16-year-old has leukemia and presented the Castle On The Hill singer with an egg and revealed how his songs have helped her through her illness. She said: “Ed was lovely and took some time to chat with me and tell me about his visit here. He said he had heard all about me and what I’d been through. He told me he was loving spending time back here in Scotland. I ended up with loads of amazing goodies and can’t wait to show my school friends.”
Nicola was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010. The meeting was set up by Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation. Angela Jamieson Cook from the foundation revealed that the charity took 20 children suffering from life-threatening illnesses to Ed Sheeran’s Hydro performances.
She revealed: “Ed has always been brilliant with our kids from the charity. He and his management really made Nicola feel special. This has put a huge smile on her face.”
This wasn’t the only Easter surprise, Scottish radio presenter also gave Ed Sheeran an Easter egg which looked like Ed. Ed said of the cake, made by her mum Fiona: “Bloody hell – it has icing on it in the shape of my face. I’m convinced the hotel I’m staying in in Scotland is haunted and is my manager and security guard. If I put it in their room this will freak them out.”
