It has been confirmed that Dean Gaffney is set to return to Eastenders after 14 years since his exit from the soap.
He previously starred in the BBC series from 1993-2003, followed by a few short appearances following his departure.
Dean has opened up on his excitement on returning to the show, saying: “I’m really happy to be back. I’m so lucky to be given the chance to work again with such a talented group of people. A big thank you to Sean and the team. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Sean O’Connor, Executive Producer, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome back Dean as Robbie Jackson, one of Eastenders’ most loved and most popular characters. Bridge Street Market has never quite been the same without Robbie policing it in his hi-vis jacket. Dean brings a wonderful warmth and fun to his portrayal of Robbie and I’m sure that audiences will take him to their hearts again, just as they have always done.”
Robbie started in the soap as a troubled teenager. After a decade as one of the soap’s favourites, Robbie then left to move to India with his girlfriend, Nita although later moved to Milton Keynes.
Since leaving the soap, Dean gas taken part in I’m A Celebrity in 2006 as well as his own MTV Music Show called Dean Gaffney’s Well Ard Hits.
Fans will have to wait to find out why Robbie has made his return as details of his storyline are still unknown.
