Ben Affleck has revealed he has completed treatment for alcohol addiction.
The Batman Argo star admitted the news in a Facebook post stating: “I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. Affleck, who separated from Garner in 2015 but never divorced, thanked his ‘co-parent’ and his friends for standing by him. I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do.”
The actor, who sought help in for alcohol addiction in 2001, was last seen at the Oscar’s on February 26th. According to a source, Ben was joined by a “sober coach” to the Oscar’s this year, to make sure he did not drink. The source explained: “He has completed his treatment and is feeling good. [He] did this for himself and his family. Family always comes first. Ben has struggled with alcohol for years and it’s a struggle that millions of people have to battle every day. He has nothing to hide and wants his kids to know that he did everything he could to be a better father. That’s why he announced it himself.”

In the past, the actor has revealed how alcohol affected his childhood, somewhat mirroring his own life. Opening up he explained how his own father struggled with addiction and split from his mother when the actor was 12: “It was difficult. When one’s parent is an alcoholic, it’s hard.
