It has been reported after almost a month’s break that Danny Dyer is back at work in EastEnders, with the cast hosting a secret party to welcome him back.

The actor is currently taking a break in South Africa after leaving the Square, where he plays Queen Vic landlord, Mick Carter.

Sources have claimed: “They are planning a round of applause when he steps back behind the bar for filming for the first time. The cast know how important Danny is to the show’s success and don’t want it to be awkward.”

Danny’s departure comes after a video was leaked backstage at the National Television Awards last month which saw the ‘flustered’ actor being helped by his co-stars. EastEnders were forced to deny the actor is ‘spiralling out of control, exhausted and needs to control his temper.’

While the clip states the star to having a ’15 minute meltdown’ a source close to Danny said at the time:  “He wasn’t behaving badly at all. He was presenting an award so he was tired as he had been at the venue since 6pm. He was struggling to find the exit to get out as he was worried he was going to be mobbed by fans as there were queues everywhere and he just wanted to get to his car.”

However, since then it has been reported that Danny was clutching a bottle of beer, showing that he had not succeeded in attempting to give up drinking after just one month.

Danny has had a string of emotional storylines, making him a favourite on the soap. Last week viewers of the BBC soap finally found out how his character’s exit will be played out after writers were forced to alter scripts. It has been revealed that Mick will be sent to prison – for selling knock-off booze out of hours – in order to explain the 39-year-old actor’s absence from the soap.

Danny is not the only star returning to the square after it has been revealed that Blue singer, Lee Ryan will be Walford’s new member, Woody Woodward.
