Scottish singer, Emeli Sande and rapper, Hypo have reportedly split after one year together. Sources claim the couple split a while before she won her fourth Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist of the Year at London’s 02 Arena last month.
A source close to Emeli said: “Hypo was the first guy Emeli had properly fallen for since leaving Adam. They got together after meeting through friends and had some amazing times. But long-term relationships are so hard to get right in the music industry.”
It seems that the couple have not been together for a while with the source adding: “Towards the end of last year they both decided to call it a day and keep their friendship strictly professional.”
However, Emeli seems to be in relatively good spirits after the split, with reports claiming: “’It’s sad but the best way forward. Emeli’s really happy and already eager to put herself back out there.”
In her album, “Long Live The Angels” Emeli opens up in her track Lonely where she belts out the lyrics: “Let’s stop wasting all our energy. Let’s stop wasting summer on our knees. Don’t lie to me, I know you felt the changes. Nothing’s new, it’s been this blue for ages. So baby I’m out of here.” This is seemingly about the heartbreak she has faced.
The 29-year-old previously dated her childhood sweetheart, Adam who she dated for 10 years. She opened up at the time of the split saying: “He was my first ever boyfriend,” she said at the time. “That’s the only person I’ve been with for the past 10 years. So (losing) our relationship more than the marriage was the big part for me to deal with.”
