Sources have claimed that Danny Dyer has taken an enforced break from Eastenders to ‘sort his life out’.

Danny, who plays Mick Carter in the soap, worried producers when he fell off the wagon at last month’s NTAs, after he vowed to stop drinking, sources say. It is believed that Danny will take a number of weeks off work after appearing exhausted.

An insider claimed: “The producers are concerned about him for a number of reasons. It was clear to onlookers he appeared very drunk at the NTAs. It is best that he takes some time out to sort his life out. He appears to be exhausted. As a result, Danny is not filming on the show at all. There is an enforced break that is expected to last a number of weeks.”

The source added: “At the end of the day, he remains the biggest star of the show – so everyone is determined to get him back to his best.”

Danny, who has previously admitted to drinking onset, first appeared as Mick in December 2013, and has since become a firm favourite on the show.

Show sources have claimed that the withdrawal will be tasking for scriptwriters and producers due to Danny being such a central character and like other soaps, the storylines are plotted months in advance.

Reports claim that Danny was spotted clutching a beer, after failing to stick to a new year’s resolution to give up drinking after just one month. It is not the first time Danny has caused a stir at the awards. At the TV Choice Awards in 2014, Great British Off favourite Mary Berry, 81, had a shocking encounter where she described him as a ‘drunk chap’.

After trying to lick her onstage, Danny apologised saying: “I have to behave myself. I wouldn’t advise anyone to accept an award off your head.”

Danny who makes an estimated £400,000 a year is contracted until October has previously hinted he may leave the show: “Four years is a long time. It’s been really rewarding but there’s other stuff out there.”

We hope Danny isn’t off our screens for too long!
