Yummy mummy Rue Smith hopes she will inspire fellow new mums with her weight loss and show that with a few small, simple changes you can get your pre-baby body back and more!
‘I first joined Scottish Slimmers in November 2014, and lost 1 ½ stone over 3 months, so I knew the plan worked well for me,’ says Rue, 33 from Glasgow, whose young son Joss is now 5 months old
‘For one reason or another I drifted back to old habits and put some of the weight back on so I re-joined in October 2015 only to discover I was pregnant and I decided I would come back again when my son was born.’
However with a brand new baby, single mum Rue soon found that she wasn’t able to get up and go to class as she would have done previously, it wasn’t that simple.
‘Luckily I found a solution,’ explains this yummy mummy. ‘After my 6 week check-up was fine I joined Scottish Slimmers online and got their app which is so easy to use.’
Weighing in online at 12 stone 12lbs Rue wasn’t sure how she would do, juggling a new baby and trying to lose weight but she was determined. However only 13 weeks after downloading the app and joining online she got to her target weight losing well over 2 stone.
‘I am so proud of myself for getting here because the easy option was to ignore it and use my son as an excuse to avoid getting back in shape, but instead I used him as my inspiration to get fit and healthy,’ says this young mum. ‘I have never looked or felt this good, and after having a baby that’s quite an achievement. I have found the eating plan so easy to follow and I’ve never felt deprived of anything. If I want cake, I have cake and that’s what I love so much about Scottish Slimmers!’
Rue understands that it’s all about moderation and balance.

One of the greatest things about losing weight for Rue is being able to wear what she wants.
‘I’ve set myself little goals along the way with outfits to fit into, which has helped me focus,’ explains Rue, ‘and I have also started exercising more. I used the Body Coach online. I started with post-natal yoga and then progressed as I got better and stronger. I now work out 5/6 days a week – fitting in my online exercise workouts before Joss wakes up or when he has a nap. I also take him to swimming lessons every Tuesday and he does baby yoga.
‘I want him to be proud of me when he’s older and I want him to follow a healthy lifestyle with lots of exercise, so I hope we can enjoy it together and it is just normal for him as he grows up.’
Rue hopes she can inspire fellow new mums.
‘Baby steps lead to massive changes in the long run and if I can do it anyone can!’
