Want to feel more confident? Here are four ways you can boost your self-esteem and the way you feel about yourself today:
Stop beating yourself up
Chances are your worst critic is probably yourself. Maybe you feel guilty because you feel as though you’ve not spent enough time with your kids, or you feel remorseful that you weren’t there when a friend needed you, possibly you feel bad that you’ve not achieved what you wanted to in your career. Whatever it is you beat yourself up over, recognise that all of these negative thoughts will really knock your confidence.
Deliver on a promise
Boost confidence by delivering on a promise. If you committed to a friend that you would go to the gym three times a week, then do it. Or, if you decided that you were going to learn a language, do it. Your confidence is boosted when you prove your competence – and remember, it drops with the opposite too.
Try to list things you are grateful for every day – you could run through a list at the
bus stop or whilst you eat your breakfast. It can be as big as feeling grateful for your loving family, right down to the fact you managed to get into the car before the rain started. By feeling grateful you are training your subconscious mind to expect good things. Like attracts like after all!
Fake it to make it
Just because you don’t feel confident doesn’t mean you shouldn’t act it. You can change how you feel by controlling your thoughts, so even if you don’t feel confident, act as though you are and eventually your feelings will catch up with your thoughts.
