Blistex Conditioning Lip Balm

This time of year sore, cracked lips go from being a mild annoyance to a really painful affliction! Especially when you can't wear your favourite berry lippy because your flaky lips make it look awful. So what's a lady to do? How about going all old school and buying a good Blistex lip balm this Conditioning balm is full of cocoa butter, vitamin E and aloe vera meaning that lips are feeling soft and kissable in no time. Even after my first application, my pout felt substantially softer and after a quick rub with an old toothbrush and another slick of this balm - my lips were as good as new!

Costs, £2.20, www.boots.com

The packaging of this lip balm is really old fashioned. But the lip balm was good. I thought because it was so cheap that it would taste plastic and go on really thick and sticky but it didn't. My lips weren't bad to begin with but this softened them up anyway and is great to have in your handbag on a cold day.

My lips are terrible in the winter, in fact they can be quite painful. So I admit I was hoping to be trying out a really expensive lip moisturiser that would be a real treat for my lips. However, I quickly put any snobbery to one side when I realised that this little stick which costs less than £2.50 gave me really good results. I found myself reapplying it throughout the day because of it's general soothing qualities and by the end of the week my lips felt much less chapped.

I love make-up and am never far from a lip gloss but when my lips are wind chapped and cold, lip gloss looks terrible. There's nothing worse than lip gloss going all goopy over cracked lips. So this was a good alternative, lips look cared for and moisturised - even after the first time I used it. I wouldn't trade my glosses for this though.

I was happy to hear that this lip blam ad an SPF 15 in it, not that it matters this time of year! But it means I can use it all year through as i do tend to have sensitive lips when I'm on holiday. Overall, this product didn't have any surprises in store. It smelt nice enough, the consistency was fine and my lips were left softer - pretty good considering the price.
