Cosmetic Test

Every week we give a different product to four lucky No.1 readers to test and review for us. This archived review is shown below along with all the past reader comments.

Purelogicol Clarifying Facial Toner

This product makes many claims, including:

'Protects against free-radical damage, visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles, refines pores, and visibly smoothes skin'.

All this and it doesn't contain alcohol, colour, perfume or parabens.

After a few uses I found this to leave the skin feeling squeaky clean and firm/taut. It's not ideal for those who have dry skin though as it doesn't leave the face feeling very moisturised.

After a week of using this product I am sold. Initially I wasn't completely convinced, it has a fabulous smell but wasn't as foamy as the products I have used in the past and seemed to leave the skin on my face feeling a little tight.

However, after a few days I really began to like it, my skin feels really clear, clean and hydrated.

I thought this was a nice product but I'm not sure that it necessarily qualifies as a toner. The reason I say this is that I felt there was quite a bit of residue left on the skin after usage.

And again, although I do think this was a lovely product to use I feel it's not the most economical product out there as every time I used it I did end up using quite a lot. Overall, not amazing but definitely 'nice.'

My biggest fear when I looked at this gel-toner was that it would feel sticky on my skin, as the gloopy product looks exactly like it would dry to feel tacky. But not at all! The clean fresh smell is really pleasant and feels smooth and refreshing on application. It cools, calms my sensitive skin, and feels really fresh and clean, not sticky at all. However, I have to say after using it for a week, aside from the pleasant experience of applying it, it made no discernible difference to the actual state of my skin. Still, it does smell nice.

A great product that really refreshed the skin and didn\'t burn or sting like harsher toners that have alcohol in.

I\'ve had a patch of bad skin that has been breaking out regularly over the last six months but after a week of using the Purelogical twice a day there was a really huge improvement, yay! All round I really liked this but as it's a gel rather than a liquid it doesn't go far - after a month there's none left so I don't think it's very economical.
