Kate is victorious

It's been speculated for weeks that Kate Winslet would finally win that Oscar that has eluded her for so long. But as with all award ceremonies you never know if there will be a shock win that will usurp the favourite.

However Kate did it! She took home the Best Actress award and looked stunning in an Yves Saint Laurent gown. She told reporters afterwards, "You just don't think that these dreams that seem so silly and so impossible could ever really come true".

Best Supporting Actress: Penelope Cruz

Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger

Best Film: Slumdog Millionaire
