Swayze cancer battle

We were all saddened and shocked last year to find out that beloved actor Patrick Swayze was battling pancreatic cancer, and now for the first time the actor has spoken about his plight.

On US TV Patrick admitted that he may only have two years left to live. He explained, "Five years is pretty wishful thinking. Two years seems likely if you're going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I'd better get a fire under it."

But Patrick is dealing with his diagnosis admirably, he is currently shooting a new TV show and even though he has been receiving grueling chemotherapy treatments at the same time, he has still continued to work 12 hour shoots.

Patrick also spoke about his love for his wife Lisa (pictured right), whom he first met when he was just 14 years old.

The couple have had to put their plans to adopt a child on hold due to Patrick's illness. However, end stage cancer is not ridding Patrick of his hope, he said at the end of the interview, "I keep dreaming of a future, of a future with a long and healthy life, not lived in the shadow of cancer, but in the light."
