Madonna comes home empty handed

Madonna is not used to being told 'NO' so is said to be devastated that she was denied the right to take little Mercy home.

The judge in the adoption case stated that Madonna could not take home the four-year-old child because she had not met the residency rules which means that a person looking to adopt a Malawi child must have lived in the country for 18-24 months.

Madonna's lawyers look set to fight the ruling as it was the same court who allowed the adoption of David Banda a couple of years ago without Madonna having had to live in the country for a specified time.

What do you think of the ruling?

I think anyone who has the means and a place in their heart to adopt a child should be treated with the respect they deserve. Money doesn't make it right but if she has proven she is doing this for the right reasons then I agree she should be able to give this child a loving up bringing.

Madonna jumped on the Angelina bandwagon when she adopted David and she's still riding it. When Brangelina adopted their children they managed to get in and out of the country without any press - so how come Madonna can't? Maybe she just likes all the attention a little too much.

I think the ruling is absoluelty right. Why should she be able to take this child if she hasn't spent any time in her community or getting to know her culture? Why doesn't she just buy a new handbag f she's looking for a cute accesory?
