Lindsay faces 3 years in jail

Lindsay Lohan appeared in court yesterday having been charged with the theft of a necklace worth $2,500. The troubled actress unsurprisingly plead not guilty - she has said from the start that there had been a misunderstanding and her assistant forgot the date the borrowed necklace was due to be returned.

Turning up to court in a skin tight white dress, Lindsay didn't seem particularly worried about the threat of jail. Theft is a felony in America and therefore, unlike the other drink driving and probation violation charges she has faced in the past and spent less than a month in total, if found guilty of this latest charge she could face three years behind bars.

Lindsay was released on a $20,000 bail for the alleged theft and a further $20,000 for violating her parole, but not without being warned by the judge first. He told her, "Look around this room. Everybody else has to follow the law. You're no different than anyone else. So please, don't push your luck."

Lohan's next hearing is scheduled to take place on the 23rd of February.
