JLo and Marc: the big split

It was announced at the weekend that after seven years of marriage Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have split. The couple were practically royalty in the Latin world and are worth an estimated £240 million combined.

When the announcement was made it seemed as though the split was entirely mutual but as is the way with these things, since it became public various stories have been floating about.

The most common theme of these stories is that Marc was a very controlling hubby, and whilst at first Jennifer loved having someone who cared so much, over the last couple of years she's felt suffocated by his demands.

Marc himself has not officially commented since the split was revealed but at a concert last night he said to the crowd, "So they say I am a single man."

And that was it. Doesn't sound all that mutual to us.

This is Jennifer's third divorce and sources close to her say that, although the marriage has been in real trouble for the last three years, the idea of being a three-time divorcee was so scary to Jennifer that she tried everything to make it work. But in the end she had to admit defeat.

However the pair have signed up to be involved with a talent contest that will be televised in Latin America only and a spokesperson has just confirmed that both will stick to their commitments and appear on the show. Awkward!
