Guy forces retraction

Early this week it was announced that Guy Ritchie had been given a substantial financial settlement from Madonna in their divorce settlement, but now a spokesperson has taken the unusual step to backtrack!

First of all it was claimed that Guy hadn't gone after a penny of Madge's money, instead all he cared about was having joint custody of the kids. Then it 'emerges' that he actually walked away with a massive settlement of £50 million. Many speculated that this info was released by Madonna's reps in a carefully orchestrated PR move.

Apparently Madonna was not impressed with how Guy had came out looking squeaky clean whilst she was shown to be controlling and possibly even having an extramarital affair. Therefore releasing how much he was paid was an attempt to paint him as a gold digger.

Whether these claims that the whole thing was planned by Madonna are true or not, yesterday a joint statement was released from the ex-couple saying that the claims of £50 million were, "misleading and inaccurate."

It's said that Guy was furious when he heard that Madonna's reps had been talking publicly about the divorce settlement, and after a day of frantic calls he managed to convince Madonna to retract the statement.
