Gordon: "worst year" of my life

Gordon Ramsay is as well known for his ego an temper as he is for his cooking, but now he's finally admitted that his empire has taken a knock this year.

Gordon explained how his accountants had told him he was "f***ed" after his plans to expand his restaurant empire overseas didn't go as smoothly as hoped.

He explains just how bad it got financially saying, "We were told to go into administration, that it would be smoother for everyone. I thought of selling some of the company. My wife and I discussed selling our house. It's taken several million of my own money with several more million to come but I'm still standing."

With restaurants in New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Dubai, Ireland and Prague there was always going to be a risk of him over-stretching himself. Gordon admits that his ego got out of control saying, "Tenacity and ambition overtook me. We thought we could do anything, that we could not fail. We flew too high, too fast."
