The ever glam Golden Globes

On this - statistically the most depressing day of the year - it's nice to hear all about the glam goings on of the other half.

Last night in Hollywood the showbiz elite were out in force for the Golden Globes - often thought of as a good indicator of the Oscar results.

The awards do was hosted by Ricky Gervais, and very unusual for LA, was a rain-soaked affair.

There had been speculation for months that, even though Jennifer Aniston was slated to present and award, the Brangelina were going to show up and out on one of their famous 'united front' pose offs in front of the waiting photographers.

However the pair refused to attend because Brad was not individually nominated for an award.

The big winners of the night were:

Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia

Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - Robert Downey Jnr for Sherlock Holmes

Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) - Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side

Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) - Jeff Bridges for Crazy Hear

Best Director - James Cameron for Avatar

Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - The Hangover

Best Motion Picture (Drama) - Avatar
