Brit disappoints

Oh we had high hopes for Britney Spears and her 'comeback' on Saturday's X Factor show, but instead she was outshone by the amateur performers.

Brit was very obviously miming, which wouldn't be a surprise if she was in a massive auditorium taking part in elaborate dance routine. But instead she was on a fairly small stage performing in a show that is all about the talent and outstanding voices that have yet to be discovered. The juxtaposition between iconic superstar falling flat and nervous newcomers bringing the house down was an uncomfortable one, and one that did not reflect well on Miss Spears.

However, sources close to the star claim there were some live vocals in her performance and point out that Take That and Mariah Carey both seemed to be miming when they appeared on the show.

But both Take That and Mariah met up with the X Factor hopefuls to go over their song choices with them prior to performing, Brit didn't. She also seemed slightly bemused and confused whilst answering Dermot O'Leary's questions. It all pointed to the fact that whilst Britney may be on the road to recovery, she's not yet ready to steal back her Pop Princess crown.
