Beyonce and Jay Z in earthquake

Beyonce and her husband are still very much a private couple - you never see them in the pages of tabloid magazines doing tacky set up shoots on the beach. They seem like a genuinely successful loved up couple who somehow have managed to keep their relationship somewhat private.

So we bet they're not best pleased that they have hit the headlines this week after being caught in an earthquake in Japan.

Beyonce and her sister Solange were in town to promote and celebrate the opening of a Disneyland hotel in Japan when mother nature struck.

Jay Z had flown in to join his wife, and after enjoying a meal in a top restaurant, there was a sudden earthquake that measured a 6.6 on the Richter scale.

Solange talked about the event on her Twitter page saying: "My sister said she was scared out of her mind and calling my mom and I was snoring. How did I sleep through a SERIOUS earthquake?"

Jessica Simpson also happened to be in Japan at the time and says, "I thought I was hallucinating, I have never felt anything like this in my life."

Thankfully no one was hurt!
