Poor Alesha gets bad reviews

After the furore over the 'letting go' of Arlene from Strictly Come Dancing, there was added pressure on Alesha Dixon to do an awesome job judging her first episode of the show.

And, having interviewed her, we know first hand that Alesha's a genuinely lovely girl and so thought she would have no problem winning over the critics.

But unfortunately the show's hardened fans are NOT happy with Alesha's contribution to the judging panel. The main complaint is that she didn't bring enough to the judging - fans say that they didn't learn anything about the dances and that her comments were too nice and 'banal'.

However the BBC execs are said to be really happy with how Alesha came across - even though they were beaten by X Factor in the ratings.

Did you watch on Saturday? What did you think of Alesha's debut?

She should stick to what she knows best. She was absolutely useless and even more of an embarrasment than poor old Brucie

I think it's nice that she has the contestants perspective. The first couple of weeks are hard for them. Hopefully she will improve as she settles in. It was rather a hostile start for her. ON the other had - I do miss Arlene - but come on guys Arlene has already been snapped up by another programme so give Aleisha a chance!!!

She is NOT qualified to judge just because she is a former contestant

She's beautiful and has an appealing personality. However, I don't see how her experience qualifies her as a c0mpetent judge. The show is being ruined by unnecessary rhythmic applause and an attempt to appeal to the young males. It had a big enough audience anyway. Arlene knew her job.

I can't stand the show but have to endure it as the other half thinks it's great, that said even I have to agree that she trivialises the judging. Quite typical of the BBC to bring in someone younger and more pleasing on the eyes - look at the new Dr Who, some young floppy haired item no-one had heard of.

In all fairness it was her first night! However, I do agree that her comments were not really dance related, more on how aesthetically pleasing the contestants were. Let's see what happens over the coming weeks.
