George's Italian ex left gutted

Poor Elisabetta, perhaps she thought she was going to be the one to tame the notorious commitment-phobe George Clooney. But after a happy two years together George has called it quits leaving Elisabetta devastated.

Many have noted the timing of the split came so close to a recent interview Elisabetta gave. In said interview she claimed, "I could never be with someone who every time he opens his mouth says he doesn’t want a child with me or to marry me."

Eeeks - but George has been very clear in the past that he has no intention of ever marrying again. But Elisabetta also addressed those claims saying, "My boyfriend has not given an interview on his private life since 1999 – everything that you read is just a rehash of stuff that has been written in the past."

She continued, "Who knows what will happen? I am a firm believer in marriage, in the future I will be married, but for the time being I am happy as I am. I don’t need anything to confirm how happy I am."

Funnily enough a fortnight after the interview ran George released a statement - sorry it was a 'mutual' statement saying, "We are not together anymore. It's very difficult and very personal, and we hope everyone can respect our privacy."
